Young boy overcomes everyday problems, unlocks hidden potential within
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – Children, parents, public schools and government officials are confronted with a difficult problem: how to deal with bullying. The bullying problem is pervasive – a recent ABC News story, “Student Alleges Principal Bullied Him for Organizing Gay-Straight Alliance” reports just how bad the problem has gotten. In her new young-adult novel, “Eden: A Novel” (published by iUniverse), Janelle Stalder offers the bullied and down-trodden a story of hope to help get them through their tough times.
Many youngsters dealing with bullying may feel hopeless. In “Eden” a 15 year-old boy named Aiden finds respite from his hormones, bullies, and high school crushes when a beautiful young girl takes him away to another world called Eden. In this new world, Aiden is a prophesied warrior in the High King’s army.
Aiden’s inspirational transformation will help readers understand that their problems can be overcome. But Stalder has other intentions for her book – inspiring young people to love reading. She says, “Reading is a love that was instilled in me from a young age, and as a mother myself, I think it is important to inspire that love in other young adults.”
Action and adventure, fantasy and magic, and love and war, this fantasy novel offers readers both an escape into another world and an rousing example of how one young boy overcame his troubles and found his purpose.
“Eden” has been selected for inclusion in the iUniverse Rising Star program, which recognizes excellence in writing and overall potential.
